Nadu is not even in the same neighborhood as hogaak. Hogaak fundamentally changed modern entirely during its time. You ran maindeck grave hate and had 8 sideboard slots dedicated to grave hate and still lost to it.

if the lands entered tapped we wouldn't be having this conversation. It would be very mid tier, though it would still be a solid play, you couldn't just win with nadu and a creature or two because the combo wouldn't generate mana, and board wipes would be in everyone's sideboard... or maybe it wouldn't even get played because it wouldn't really win games. either way, ban the bird.

Banning Nadu is dumb. There are other commanders and cards that infinite combo out on turn 2 or three. While I hate it, I get told “they printed the cards that way.” And nobody wants to ban them.

People hate the bird because they can’t play there cheap removal to get rid of it and it punishes players for targeting. That’s why I personally love it . Counterspells and board wipes are a thing . Dominguez was a few lands away in the PT to beating Simon & going to the semis .

Saw this deck in action a couple nights ago. We were finally getting used to the fact that mana dorks were just easy card draw for the wakeen player when they supercharged a Fiery Confluence and nuked everyone. Whole table was like "well... shit".😂

Now add assault suit and watch as your opponents cry and murder each other!!!

We played a 3 player game once. The one player playing her was upset we countered, removed and foiled his engines he build up with her. We game him 2 turns because we did indeed blow his stuff up a bit aggressively and he nearly won. 2 turns is all you need for this to rebuild.

Okay. Nadu doesn't look as busted as other cards on paper. What exactly is it that makes him so powerfull. What am i missing? Bad wording on the ability? Or is it actually mostly the mana cost?
